The East Branch of the Delaware River was the scene of father and son, John and Justin’s, latest adventure with Fifield Outfitters. We gave fly fishing lessons to them on the river, resulting in Justin catching his very first bow, using a fly rod for the first time! His mom was going to cook up the trout for a family dinner. May 8, 2021, was National Dog Mom’s Day. Although, as we know, not just women have a special bond with their fur children, as men do as well. With that being said, we have a timely, heartwarming story to share. It was only fitting that on that very day after AJ and Gwen’s beloved 18 year old pup, Shelby, crossed the Rainbow Bridge, that she would send her family a sign that she loves them very much, their bond will never be broken or forgotten, and she will see them again one day in Heaven. Until then, she’s with them in Spirit, and that day, she worked with the striper gods, to send AJ some of his largest catch and releases EVER, including a 40 inch striped bass! This lovely couple, Adrianne and Fausto, joined us once again for an ice fishing trip. This year, pike were on the hit list, and they sure didn’t disappoint. Seven toothy critters were brought up through the hard water holes, one of those, Fausto jigged up. In between pike flags, the large mouth kept us busy running from flag to flag. The action was fast and furious throughout the entire trip! It’s always awesome seeing this pair on their annual ice fishing trip, we look forward to more adventures to come!

The lure of prestigious, Lake George, brought back Kevin Sr. and his adventurous family. Amy, Kevin, Patricia, Madisyn, and Kevin Jr., wanted to try their hands at ice fishing The Queen. Our underwater camera’s screen filled with an epic school of perch. The group was taught how to jig for them, using our Humminbird fish finder, which also lit up from schools of smelt cruising the area. If you looked down the holes, you could observe smelt on the move. Hooks were set, and up the hard water holes perch ventured!

John, and his son, Dale, along with their buddy, Greg, joined us for a trip on Cossayuna Lake. This was their first time on the hard water. We put out tip-ups in search of pike and elusive tigers. The wind was just a howling, but thanks to our Clam Outdoors thermal hub, these men stayed comfortable. Bass were hitting the tip-ups, and at the end of our day, a pike was on the ice.
